Every year the 'Festival of Happiness' is celebrated in honour of the chrysanthemum. The side panels of the box depict birds in stormy seas with waves in the style of The Great Wave by Hokusai, all in relief. The inside lining is no longer there and has revealed the initials JBK, possibly the mark of the maker. Very heavy metal.
