This design was first made by Charles Meigh in 1842 in Staffordshire, and these pieces are displayed at the V&A and the Metropolitan Museum. The arcaded "Gothic" decoration is a response by the pottery industry to the ideas of the influential architect and designer Augustus Charles Pugin (1762–1832). The design was so popular that several companies continued making them more than a 100 years after that. The octagonal moulded ceramic body of this jug has cathedral-style spires under which the apostles stand, and similar spires under the beautifully shaped mouth. The handle itself is a piece of art with gargoyles, geometric tracery and scrolling vine patterns on its unique shape. There is even a gargoyle where the handle connects inside the mouth of the jug. The round foot of the jug also has a beautiful pattern running around it. The piece is in perfect condition. It should be from the mid 1900s England.

~ Eina Ahluwalia

Approximate dimensions : 7.2 inches in height, 6.4 inches in width including the handle., 394 grams.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0177/1546/files/VintageOldSoulPorcelainPitcherVIIbyEINA1.jpg?v=1784706583
