Old Soul Butter Dish I

Size Guide

Notify me when this product is available:

Super old butter dish made by Meridian Britannia Company in collaboration with the Roger Brothers between 1862 and 1869 before the two companies merged completely. The dome and the rimmed foot of the base have a beautiful and intricate acanthus border, and the finial is sort of like a crown. The butter dish has handles, and a knife holder with a knife that has been replaced by the original owners. The lower half of the dome would have contained ice and a glass container for the butter. The plating is a bit pitted and worn off in parts commensurate with age. The dome has an engraving that reads “Dinshaw D Nasikvala 1918” and the bottom has markings that read “Made and Guaranteed by Meridian B Company, Roger Bros 5094, Made in US America.”
