Very unique and unusual vintage incense burner with beautiful pierced fretwork on the body, and two oval plaques which can be engraved with names and dates. It stands on a gorgeous base with a scalloped wavy border and repousse work of flowers and leaves, and has three beautifully patterned feet. The bird on top is symbolic of the fravashis, or guardian spirits, and sits on a cover that opens up. Small incense cones can be put inside and the fragrant smoke wafts out of the fretwork, or incense sticks can be put through the top and the plate will collect the ash. This is a rare to come by piece.
