Rare ironstone bowl with Arabic inscriptions with the names of the four khalifas and four angels on the four sides. They read Osman Israel, Omar Mikaeel, Abu Baker Jibraeel and Ali Israfeel. The bowl is hand painted with flow blue transferware on the rim and on the inside. It has the makers mark on the underside which reads Petrus Regout and is made in Maastricht, Holland. The elephant mark was used only between 1892 and 1896 so that dates this unique bowl accurately during this period. There is a small chip on one side, and the painting has worn off just a bit in some areas but it is in exceptional condition given its age.
