Large and heavy bronze tripod ritual pot or Ding from China. The circular form has twin stirrup-shaped handles, and stands on tripod legs, and is fully decorated with prominent Taotie (Chinese mythological creature) faces on the entire body and legs. The ding is one of the most important vessel in Chinese tradition and history, and under the Shang and Zhou dynasty, it became symbols of power and authority. The inside has engravings with characters in an ancient script most likely of prayers and wishes.
