Majolica dog head-shaped box or jar in creamware or terracotta, in the Tromp L'oeil style which was very popular in the 18th century. The eyes are most likely original glass. It is hand painted and was used as tobacco jar or humidor, and is a rare and highly collectible piece in great condition. Most likely Austria, late 1800s - early 1900s.
