Meiji period signed Satsuma tea set with six cups and saucers decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt on a transparent crackled glaze. The plates and cups depict a sacred gathering scene, where nine Immortals or Rakans are engaging in spiritual discourse. In the landscape afar are a pagoda and a pavilion in the rolling hills. The insides of the cups also have two seated Immortals at the bottom, and the maroon border has a gilt pattern running around it. The gilt is beautiful on the halos and patterns on the dresses and the pagodas, and this set is in excellent condition given that it should be from the Meiji period, early 1900s, Japan. Signed on the underside in gilt over a black cachet.
